SEL BC (Social Emotional Learning British Columbia) is a network of educators, researchers, and community organizations committed to the promotion of social-emotional learning, social responsibility, and collaborative learning within school and community settings across the Lower Mainland of British Columbia. We meet once a month to network with colleagues and leaders in SEL, learn about SEL by connecting practice and research, advocate for SEL, and share leadership in the SEL field in BC.
Our mission is to advance and connect research and practice in order to establish and sustaining social-emotional learning and social responsibility within safe, caring, collaborative, and inclusive learning communities.
Collaboration and co-creation are the foundation of SEL BC. We work together to discover, create, and promote SEL practices that are grounded in research. We offer, support and promote professional development in SEL skills and knowledge within and across out learning communities.
Guiding Principles and Values
We support and encourage inclusion, collaboration, capacity building, sharing resources, integration of SEL from K-12 in BC schools, consensus decision making, and accountability.
