SEL BC welcomes new BC-based members who are from one of the categories below and who meet the Membership Criteria.
Membership Categories:
School District SEL/Social Responsibility/Prevention contacts (maximum 2 representatives per School District) whose work is consistent with SEL BC mission and goals;
Faculty whose work/study is consistent with SEL BC's mission and goals. Faculty may send an alternate in their place if unable to attend;
Regional Health Authority staff who work with BC schools and school districts to support, promote, and embed SEL;
Faculty-invited Graduate students (maximum 3 students per meeting);
SEL BC alumni or other affiliated professionals whose work is consistent with the above.
Membership Criteria:
The membership criteria are built around the four pillars of SEL BC; Networking, Leadership, Advocacy and Learning Together.
Commitment: Members must be willing and able to attend the majority of SEL BC meetings. SEL BC meets for approximately 1.5 hours on the 2nd Tuesday of each month. Attendance is necessary for networking and learning opportunities as well as participating in decision-making regarding advocacy.
Reciprocal Relationship: It is expected that members will learn and grow from being a part of SEL BC and will be able to contribute to the learning and growth of others.
Fit: The job role and mandate of members must include responsibility for social and emotional learning.
